We drove part of the incredible Turquoise Trail Scenic Byway today. The Trail begins to the South in Tijeras and the Cibola National Forest, then heads north through Cedar Crest, Sandia Park, Edgewood, Golden, Madrid, and Cerrillos, before ending in the San Marcos/Lone Butte Area. Along the 65 miles are homes, ranches, vacation lodging, restaurants, RV parks, a golf course, a ski resort, museums, horseback riding stables, shops/galleries and lots of respected craftsmen and artists.
We started in Tijeras and skipped the Sandia Crest because we have visited it before. We ended up in the tiny town of Madrid where the movie “Wild Hogs” was filmed. It was so funny, we saw signs saying wild hogs and Jerry and I thought it was REAL wild hogs. :-)
Once we got back home I researched the area and found out about the “Wild Hogs” movie being filmed in Madrid. It was a beautiful drive and we loved the awesome town of Madrid. We will be going back again when Vickie and Sam arrive in April. We enjoyed the drive much. Check back later for more from Albuquerque.
