Our two nights at White Beach were excellent, the amenities were very clean. Our unpowered site cost $30 a night. Our RV has a shower and toilet but we both used the site amenities which had 5 minute hot showers. If you went over you had to wait two minutes for the hot water to start again. I was fine I only needed the five minutes, Grae needed extra time.

Apart from the Port Arthur site the Tasman Peninsula also has a very rugged coastline much of it forming the Tasman National Park.

Looking south we could see Cape Pillar in the distance. These are the highest dolerite sea cliffs in the Southern Hemisphere, rising 300 metres above the Tasman Sea. They are 'the Pillars at the bottom of the World' and looked amazing at full zoom, they are a mecca for dare-devil rock climbers.

Closer to us Eaglehawk Neck was full of many strange rock formations, including The Devils Kitchen, Tasman's Arch, Blow Hole and the Tessellated Pavement.

Eaglehawk Neck is also famous for its association with the prison colony at Port Arthur. In 1832, a military outpost was setup to watch for escaping prisoners, and dogs were positioned along the isthmus to raise a ruckus if they spotted an escapee. We walked the 'dog line' near the Officers' Quarters, which has been restored and gives a history of life back then.

There is an impressive monument to the ferocious dogs at Eaglehawk Neck. Grae decided he'd like his picture taken riding one!

We made our way to Triabunna for a night of free camping in town. The weather was sunny and warm, yeah!!!

Triabunna is the gateway to Maria Island National Park. This part of the coast is also a prime fishing spot and the area is well known for its delicious, locally-caught fish and chips.

We walked around the town which had many preserved convict-era buildings and a large Seafarers Memorial. For dinner Dan had crumbed local scallops and Grae had sausage and mash.
