Picking Oranges

We headed out early this morning as we planned to go all the way to Bakersfield, CA which is over 400 miles down I-5. Not a bad travel day, but from Coalinga on, the road is absolutely horrible. We turned off at Lost Hills to head through Wasco and our tire pressure monitor started beeping. Oh fun! We limped into Bakersfield where we had called a Les Schwab dealer and they said to come on in. Another cracked wheel!!!! I'm sure the rough road had something to do with it. In any case, the young man at Les Schwab had us repaired and on our way within 15 minutes. Thankfully, after our first cracked wheel last fall, we still had the wheel so it was easy to change out. Our thanks to that young man and Les Schwab. They did not charge us a dime. Of course, Dale is now leery of the last two wheels so talked to Ryan Smith at our dealership in Pocatello and ordered three new wheels. Oh the joys of a home on the road!!!!

We pulled into Orange Grove RV Resort rather late in the day for us and collapsed. Long, trying day. However, the next day found us out picking and eating oranges from the RV Park. Great oranges and we met a couple from Longview/Kelso and another from Bellevue, WA. We were amazed at how empty the park was. The same in Canyonville.

We did stop at our favorite fruit stand and bought grapefruit this year that they have not had in years past. Unfortunately, no Cara Cara oranges that day. They were expected more in, but not until after we left the area. We were able to ship oranges home to each of our girls' families this year so they could enjoy this wonderful fruit.
