Meteor Crater (big hole in the ground)

Petrified Forest (fallen tree now rocks))

I have been attempting to upload some photos into this journal. So far I haven't had any success. When I do figure it out I will go back and add them in. For now though I can tell you that the Meteor Crater is incredible to see in person. I would put it up there with the Grand Canyon. It is 550 feet deep. They say that you could be the Washington Monument inside and the top of the monument would be eye-level with the observation deck at the Crater. Another thing that I didn't know is that is that it is privately owned. A family owns the land going back to the early 1900's, before Arizona became a state.

The scientists say that this hole is 50,000 years old and that the earth is due for another impact. Hope it isn't for another 1,000 years.

I'm on my way to the Petrified Forest National Park this morning and I will update you all when I get to New Mexico. Heading to a KOA camp in Grants, New Mexico.
