This evening I attended my church’s 4:00 o’clock Christmas eve service. At that hour it was still too light for the candle-lighting ceremony in the courtyard which was planned for the 6:00 o’clock service. There was lots of music, a story read to the children by the pastor and a special devotional piece written by the pastor from the perspective of the innkeeper who turned Joseph and Mary away.
After church I stopped at Luby’s Cafeteria for a take-out dinner. There were many people who had ordered complete meals for a large group. I was able to go through the serving line to get mine.
After dinner I watched the Christmas classic, “It’s a Wonderful Life.” I’ve seen it several times but never remember all the scenes from year to year.
