Headed south this morning from Guelph. I decided to stop at Niagara Falls for a little site seeing. I haven't been to the falls since the boys last went to hockey school in Quebec way back when. It was a gray day, but there was still a little fall color still visible to brighten things up a little. I walked up to the observation deck and over to Goat Island and the Horseshoe Falls. It was really wet over by the falls from the mist that was rising.

After the stop at the falls, I headed to Grover's Bar & Grill in East Amherst, the DDD spot that was closed on the way up to Canada. The place was really hopping for early on a Friday afternoon. I ordered the "Bruiser", a 12-oz burger and onion rings. The burger was good and sloppy. I used all 4 of the heavy duty napkins they gave me to get through it. The onion rings were tasty, but cold. If you ever stop here, it's cash only as I found out the hard way, not enough to pay the bill. I left $11 with the bartender and had to go out to find the nearest ATM which was about a mile away. When I got back, the waitress was surpried to see I came back to pay. So much for trust these days.

I stopped for the night at Painted Post, NY. I've heard of the town before, but wondedred where the name came from. According to Wikipedia, the name comes from a painted and carved post found by explorers at the junction of three local rivers.
