National Parks & Headwaters 2012 travel blog

Managed to make it back to Bryce Canyon for the 3 hour 9:00 guided bus tour to the far end which is Yovimpa Point. Learned that Manzanita leaves are very good for keeping your mouth moist. That was the first new thing we learned that day. Karen tried it and it really worked. Janice was too chicken to try it. We also tried the needles to another plant that we can’t remember the name of. They were peppery tasting. Later that day as we traveled on highway 12 from Bryce Canyon to Capitol Reef, we saw the most breathtaking scenery through the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Near the highest elevations of Boulder Mountain, the dog gone cows would not get out of our way. We were able to get a ten dollar campsite at Fruita in Capitol Reef NP. By the check-in kiosk, apriocot trees….it does not get much better than that.
