Lunch at IHOP

Attack #4-Freebies in Fresno
19 May - It was an easy 10 mile convoy to the start at IHOP this morning and easy AV maneuvering as Commander Wayne had pre-arraigned for our positioning in the restaurant parking lot. Sixteen foot-solders showed up for the advancement. We had a few that were MIA after yesterday’s attack but we did bring in some reinforcements. We all kind-of expected the same sort of march that we had in Merced yesterday but we were pleasantly surprised. We traversed through downtown Fresno and enjoyed it’s clean streets, modern buildings, Fulton Mall, historical structures, shaded parks, and gorgeous homes. We raided a street fair at City Hall, which was celebrating National Public Works Week, and confiscated many items (battle booty) including, calendars, pens, cookies, ice cream treats and Twinkies. After the attack all 16 solders enjoyed grub at the chow hall (IHOP). It was the first time ever in the history of the AVA (or at least in a very long time) that all solders marched together and ate together. It was a great march and a great day.

After a short R&R, I headed for the Grapevine and beyond as the thermometer dipped from the 90s in Bakersfield and into the 70s as I approached Magic Mountain on the south end of the Grapevine.

I arrived at Camping World in Stevenson Ranch and parked across from Larry, who had arrived hours earlier. Larry had a little issue while convoying across the Grapevine but asked me not to mention it, so I won’t. Oops! Too late, but you gotta ask him for the details.

Mission status for day 4 of 16: Completed 4th of 21 scheduled attacks for a total of 39 miles on the ground and 424 convoy miles.
