SATURDAY
Driving from Niagara Falls heading west. It felt good just to follow signs that said west... west... Didn't have to scrutinize the map. I could finally relax and put on the radio. Could seat dance. :-)
Girls were asleep as we entered Ohio so I had to drive AND snap the "Welcome to Ohio" sign. As we crossed into Ohio, we stopped at a welcome center. I got out my "Next Exit" book and the map. The plan was to stop at a Walmart off I-90 and boondock for the night. A free night to save money since we're just passing through to get to Chicago.
Okay, so we followed the book... 57N it said to get to Walmart. But alas it was not so. It was a seedy part of town and we decided to turn around and head back to the interstate.
When we got onto the Ohio Turnpike, the plan was to stop at a rest area and make a new plan. We even tried calling a local campground and see about rates...$32 for the night and we weren't even going to use any of the amenities. No thanks.
Shortly after getting on the turnpike, we came upon a rest stop that actually had RV parking... well, RV hookups! You put your money in a machine in the middle of the parking lot and it spits out a ticket. That gets you a night of hooking up. We backed in, hooked up, popped out the sliders and we were golden. It felt so good to lay down and be comfy in our own beds. No matter that we were at a rest area with cars and trucks coming and going.
SUNDAY
Woke up to torrential downpours today. Found out on the TV (yeah, got TV reception there too) that eastern and central Ohio were expecting rain and flooding. We decided to stay put, head over to the food court for a Sunday morning Panera breakfast of bagels, coffee and juice. Yum.
