Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

We were awake by 7:00 but we were in no hurry this morning, facing only a 3 ½ hour drive to Elk City. We shared the usual pot of fresh brewed coffee and then began getting ready for the road for the second day in a row.

We pulled into Rolling Retreats RV Sales right at 12:40 and parked in one of the vacant sites Slade had mentioned to me. Marilyn & I worked together and soon had things set up for an overnight stay before the work began on the items making up our repair list.

We had just finished setting up and I went into the bathroom to wash some of the dirt off my hands, when we heard a knock on the door. It was Slade. He explained that he has really been behind and was working on Sundays to get caught up. He asked if we could get the RV ready to move and he would move us into the shop and begin immediately on our list of items needing his attention.

Marilyn & I took about 30 minutes and we were all set, so Slade took our RV away, as Marilyn & I drove off for a late lunch at “Simon’s Catch”. They serve a great Catfish, all you can eat and served with pinto beans, coleslaw, cornbread, pickled green tomatoes, and several other side dishes which were all very tasty. I have to admit that I ate four pieces of fish and lots of the other delicacies.

Back at the RV Slade worked hard with two of his helpers and soon had the four new wheel hubs with new bearings installed, the new slide topper awning installed, the new TV antenna installed, some caulking done, and will paint the hitch tomorrow.

By 5:00 we were parked and set up again. I then worked on learning how to operate the new antenna and we were soon watching some TV.

It was another fine, easy day of travel, mixed with some work, and finally, some relaxation.

Marilyn worked on her cross-stitch project while I read my book.
