We're Home at Retama Village
Oct 21, 2016
|So, I am a day late getting this journal entry posted. I will date it for yesterday, Oct 21st, 2016, because that is the day we traveled the last leg of our journey to the Valley for this winter.
We left Buckhorn Resort in Kerrville right at the planned time of 7:30 AM. We took a route which avoided San Antonio and the heavy traffic.
We drove through Bandera and Hondo, and then made a fuel stop at Devine, before continuing on to I-37 and then on south on Hwy 281 to McAllen and Mission, reaching our little piece of paradise in Retama Village around 1:45 PM.
Mike & Marian were waiting to greet us and welcome us home, but after exchanging hugs and making a plan to meet later for a bite to eat, they left us to get set up in our Site.
We had the basic set up finished when I heard a voice from the resort next door, asking “Is that Ed Dray?” What a wonderful surprise to see the smiling faces of our good friends, Heinz & Irene.
We visited a few moments through the fence and then I heard another voice say “Hello Ed Dray.” It was another long-time friend, named Jim. I then yelled at Marilyn to come out and see someone. She stayed busy sharing hugs with our friends.
Once again a few plans were made and then Marilyn & I returned to our set up duties.
Mike & Marian returned a bit later, to pick us up and take us over to the “Riverside” for a sandwich and an ice cold beer. Steve & Cathy met us there also and we enjoyed the first meal we had all day.
Back at the RV we sat and watched TV for a bit, but I had been awake since 1:50 AM and decided to go on to bed to read a while before falling asleep.
We are home, and Life is Good!
