We arrived in Phuket by plane a few minutes before sunset. So far we try to arrange our travel schedule to arrive in daylight. It helps us get a better impression of the destination and assists us in getting our bearings. It was beautiful to watch the sunset from a taxi window on the way to the Sheraton in Phuket (Starwood points are the greatest), however not even 2 minutes after the sunset it was completely dark.

During check in at the Sheraton Phuket we were offered ice cold lemongrass scented face towels and delicious and healthy fruity welcome drinks. We were escorted to our room with a stunning view of the Ocean.

The Sheraton in Phuket was fantastic, and one of the most relaxing places I have ever been. We were upgraded to a room that overlooked the ocean, and had a large sunken tub and a comfortable balcony for watching sunrises.

The pool here is one of the best features of the hotel. It is the largest pool anywhere in Asia and snakes through the entire resort. Normally staying here would cost anywhere from $300 or more, but post tsunami and in low season rooms are now going for only $65. The hotel also has features like a games room with internet and the latest video games, a library of books and DVDs, a fantastic gym with Thai Kick boxing and yoga classes, and even a baby elephant that visits the resort every morning. It was a great place to stay for a few days and explore Phuket from.
