Glacier National Park
August - I got underway at or about 10ish and drove 12 miles to Lincoln's 50,000 Silver Dollar Casino in Haugan to check out their RV parking facilities. It offers free overnight parking in a quiet, level, semi-wooded area and some sites even have free electrical hookups available. I was quite impressed. After a short break I continued on to Glacier National Park and arrived here around 5. After I set up camp, I did a 4+ mile orientation hiking tour of the adjacent area. Very nice.

August - Enjoyed a very dark and quiet night in the generator-free camping loop. Spent the best part of the afternoon hiking about, covering over 9 miles of trail.

August - Rode the shuttle up the Going-to-the-Sun Road, which is considered to be one of the most scenic routes in America, to the Logan Pass Visitor Center this morning, stopping along the way to explore over 11 miles of exquisite hiking trails.

August - I decided to stay a couple of extra nights at Glacier but my batteries were about to croak so I moved to the generator-friendly loop so I could recharge and regroup. I normally can go a week or so without cranking up the RV or the generator and by letting my solar panel do the job but, the campsites are so heavily shaded here that the sun can’t get to it. I picked out and reserved a nice site on the creek a couple of days ago. After setting up camp at my new location, I unloaded the M/C and buzzed around a bit. Montana is a no-helmet-required state so I took advantage of that. It was a great day for a ride, sunny and warm. I also logged in another 9+ miles on foot, exploring many trails in/near the campground.

August - What a beautiful day for a bike ride. Motorbike ride that is. I rode the entire 100 mile round trip of the Going-to-the-Sun Road helmet-free, stopping for sightseeing and some short hikes along the way. What a ride!!!!!
