We left Paul Wolff park in Elgin on Oct. 8th and drove about 10 miles north to Buffalo Park

There aren't as many trails as at Paul Wolff but it is right on the Fox River

We spent the first few days getting to know the surrounds and then we also decided to bite the bullet and buy a new computer. We were going to the library for internet access, but it's a real pain and I couldn't keep up the blog, so we looked at ordering a Dell, then at an HP, and finally decided on a Gateway at Best Buy since it was on a good sale and we could get a warranty that will fix anything that goes wrong with it short of me throwing it down and stomping on it. It has 1 gig memory and 100 gigs of hard drive space, so in that respect, it's better than the Sony. So far, it seems to be working out well.
On October 12th - the earliest recorded measurable snowfall happened and we were one of the first to see it

Saturday, we drove into Chicago and spent the day with Adam. We broke our diets again by going to Ricobene's for lunch - great breaded steak sandwich! and then again when we ordered Giordano's for supper. We had some marathon Monopoly games on the XBOX which ended with Adam's record of over $60,000!
Today we decided we needed to make our farewells to the casino again and ate at the buffet then played for about 3 hours on the penny slots. What was really great about that was that we walked out with all our money. All that time we played, we won so much that we didn't spend any extra. THAT's the way to gamble! (Of course, coming out with MORE than we had planned to lose would have been good, too!)
Tomorrow, we leave early in the morning to drive to Great Lakes VA for Jeff to pick up his hearing aids, then back to Buffalo to hitch up and head for Texas!
