Topeka to Hannibal
Sep 5, 2016
|It was exactly 8:15 this morning when we left the RV Resort in Topeka, and one hour later we were heading north on I-435.
We stopped in Cameron, Missouri to top off with fuel and get a bite to eat before continuing east on US-36 to Hannibal.
We rolled into the Mark Twain Campground in Hannibal right at 2:00 PM and were all set up by 3:30. The temperature was 89 degrees and the humidity must have been an even higher number. We had sweat dripping off of us by the time we finished.
Friends who had been here over the holiday but were leaving stopped by to visit for a moment and said they will be back in a couple of weeks.
Right after that family left, Linda and Jim stopped by and sat outdoors visiting with us for a while.
When our friends left, Marilyn headed for the shower and I followed her when she finished. Man, that shower felt really good!!
Jennifer called and we agreed to meet her, Steve, and the grand kids at the local KFC for dinner.
They had been driving all day, having started in Michigan this morning. We were all tired and hungry but that didn’t have any effect on the smiles and hugs.
By the time we all ate our fill of fried chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, slaw, and all the other assorted goodies, we were ready to go to bed.
Back at our RV it felt good to slip into some PJ’s and relax in front of the TV.
It was a full day of travel but everything went smoothly and we are now all set up, ready to be nesting for the next five weeks.
Life is Good!
