A One Hour Drive to Santa Fe
Jul 24, 2016
|This morning, I drove down the road less than a mile, to the Love’s station, to fuel the truck and purchase some breakfast to take back to the RV.
We had planned to leave at 9:00 for the short one hour drive to Santa Fe, where we had reservations at Santa Fe Skies RV Park.
Eddie & Jan stopped by to tell us that they were going to the Love’s station also, to pick up some breakfast, and would see us on the road.
Marilyn & I pulled out of our RV Park at 8:35 and when we stopped at the first light, Eddie & Jan were just across the street, stopped at the same light.
We headed toward Santa Fe and arrived right behind our friends. Even though we arrived at 9:40 in the morning, The folks here at Santa Fe Skies were very nice and found two pull through sites, side by side, for the four of us.
We were all set up shortly after arriving, and jumped into the car with Eddie & Jan for the derive downtown.
We found a parking space right near the Plaza and walked over to the Loretto Chapel, famous for the spiral staircase, which defies the logic in architecture and appears to be suspended in air.
We spent some time in this wonderful place and then walked to a well-known restaurant just down the street.
After enjoying a tasty and filling lunch we walked to the Historic Plaza and sauntered around the square. Because I enjoy history so much, I have read numerous books about the history associated with Santa Fe and the Santa Fe Trail.
It was a fine day today, and we extended the enjoyment by sitting outdoors with a cold drink, in the company of our friends.
