Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

We rolled out of the American RV Park in Albuquerque at a quarter after 8:00 this morning. Eddie & Jan were a bit behind us but they have the ability to climb those mountains faster than us and they passed us before we had driven 50 miles or so.

The roads were great all the way with a few construction areas we had to navigate. There was no wind to fight and we were pleased to see our fuel mileage steadily climb until it reached 10.1 mpg by the time we arrived at OK RV Park in Holbrook, Arizona. That was in spite of driving at high elevations, once reaching over 7240’ and towing the car behind the RV.

We were parked in our site and were just setting up when Eddie & Jan pulled in. They had stopped around Gallup to stretch their legs while we continued on.

Once they were all set up beside us, the four of us climbed into our car and drove off to find a place to enjoy some lunch.

We found a fine little Mom & Pop place called Tom & Susie’s, with good food and great service.

After lunch we located the Safeway grocery store and purchased a few supplies.

The remainder of our afternoon was spent relaxing while sometimes checking our eyelids for light leaks.

Tomorrow we have a bit less than 100 miles to go so we plan to take our time getting started. We’ll go out for breakfast and fuel the vehicles before we get on the road around 10:00 AM.

We are all feeling the stress of being on the road for so many days and it will be good to arrive at our destination where we will remain for five weeks.

Life is Good!
