Today I went with several other CARE residents, our activities director and a volunteer couple to Brenham for lunch and a visit to the Blue Bell Creameries. We left at 8:30 so we could have a pit stop along the way and still get there before noon; it’s a two-hour drive. We had lunch at the Sealand Restaurant, where the food and service were good.
Then we went to the Blue Bell Creameries, expecting to have a 45-minute tour. Alas, the line was shut down for maintenance, so we didn’t get to take the tour. We were disappointed but there wasn’t much else we could do at that point except visit the museum displays and then go to the ice cream parlor and gift shop upstairs. I tried two flavors new to me: sea salt caramel and blackberry cobbler ice cream. I liked the sea salt caramel one better.
We arrived back at CARE at 4:00.
