From Ho Chi Minh City to Phuket - May 28, 2005

Our journey through Vietnam has been fantastic. We travelled from north to south and have seen a lot of the country. I was very impressed with how many Vietnamese spoke English and with how persistent the vendors were in terms of bargining. But what most impressed me about Vietnam was the pristine beauty of its landscapes, mountains, islands, fishing and moutain villages and rice fields. My favorite places were Sapa and Hoi An and I really enjoyed travelling by train, which really allowed us to see many remote spots even if it was from a train window.

We are now in Bangkok just for a couple of hours en route to Phuket. I am really looking forward to travelling in Southern Thailand mainly because I think it is important to support this area after the recent tsunami in order to help local businesses and communities.
