Well, me Jo and Krys have just returned from a lovely 3 nights in Puerto Vieja on the caribbean coast of Costa Rica. We got the 6am bus from San Jose on Tuesday (yes, 6am !!) and got there at about 10ish. The weather was decidedly un-caribbean like at this point but we got in a taxi and he dropped us at Punto uva, about 7km east of Puerto Vieja, a place recommended by the lonely planet. Soon realised that with it being low season, there wasnt much open and what we did see was pretty basic, damp and prob mosi infested. So at this point it was pouring down but we managed to get a lift back to town with a nice surfer dude. Had nice lunch then went and booked into the very nice Cabinas Casa Verde which were a bit pricey but hey, luxury is required in 35 degrees heat and 90%humidity methinks. Next day we hired bikes -Krys managed to hire herself an old skool chopper bike and thus attracted much attention from the locals for having the coolest bike in town.We cycled along the coast past Playa Chiquita and found ourselves our own deserted beach which was perfect as it meant I could go in the sea with no danger of being seen by anyone and causing them to go blind with the whiteness. THe sea was lovely but big waves so you couldnt really swim but nice to cool off. We then had a great lunch at Miss Hollys place then cycled home for a siesta. We repeated this the next day !!! Very nice indeed. We took the bus back to San Jose on Sat morning and arrived back with Lesley late afternoon. Had nice food and cheap wine that evening so felt a bit rough the next day but we managed to make it to a bar to watch Costa Rica lose 3-0 to the USA !! V sad!! Krys left for Sao Paulo at 430am on Sunday and me and Jo arrived back in Antigua Sunday afternoon. Photos soon !
