Monument Valley

A Monument Valley Butte

Valley spires

More spires

In John Wayne's footsteps!

This guy on our hotel porch actually said "Howdy"

I had a bad night's sleep, what with stray dogs barking, babies crying, RV's air-conditioning, etc. Once awake, most of today was spent driving, and now here we are in Utah, another new state for me. Almost as much fun as going to a new European country. Except more mormons and less alcohol.

So first we drove for a few hours to Monument Valley, the starring landscape of mucho films and an American icon. It was good, although perhaps because So after that even more driving, out of the Navajo Nation and over to Utah, where we are now in the small town of Kanab, where even more cowboy films were made, including Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, the Outlaw Josey Wales, and both versions of Planet of the Apes. And everyone involved stayed in the hotel we are in, how cool is that?

And tomorrow to Bryce Canyon, with the bad weather chasing us!
