Short Move to Elk City
Jun 12, 2016
|I was up at 5:00 this morning but Marilyn waited until 6:30 before she appeared, groggily asking “Do we have time for coffee this morning?”
“Sure” I replied.
We shared a pot of fresh brewed coffee before we had to begin getting ready to leave.
The weather forecast called for rain and thunderstorms to begin at 10:00 AM so we wanted to get on our way as early as possible.
Of course, when we are in a hurry, things do not go just right. I had a bit of a problem with lights not working properly, but a tad of tinkering with the connectors fixed that issue and we pulled out of Twin Fountains RV Park at 8:25 this morning.
I like to drive through city traffic early on a Sunday morning when the traffic is light and this worked for us today. The roads in Oklahoma are not high on my list of favorites because they are usually rough with potholes and uneven, broken chunks of pavement causing lots of jolts and jarring of the truck, RV, and occupants.
It took only two hours and a couple of minutes to reach our destination at Elk City. We found an empty spot, unhooked and leveled the RV, and then hooked up to electric, and then lastly, we ran a long hose to a water spigot. We were all set up!
Marilyn & I drove to Billy Simms BBQ for some lunch. After the salty but tasty BBQ sandwiches and some baked potato salad, we drove to Walmart to pick up a few supplies before fueling the car and driving back to the RV.
We spent the afternoon reading and relaxing. Well, that is what I did. Marilyn worked on her cross-stitch project.
