Topeka to Oklahoma City
Jun 10, 2016
|Knowing that we had very little to do, in order to be ready to leave this morning, Marilyn & I sat outdoors with our coffee before doing anything else.
We still managed to be out of the RV Park 10 minutes before 8:00 this morning. It was another beautiful day except for the 25 mph wind straight out of the south. That didn’t hurt the sunshine but it played havoc with my fuel mileage. I managed to get only 8.2 mpg for the day as we fought that headwind all the way to Oklahoma City.
We were checked in at Twin Fountains RV Park, all set up, and relaxing, by 2:00 PM. We found some snacks and remained indoors enjoying the comfort of the air conditioning on the day when the temperature outdoors reached into the 90’s.
Everything inside the RV rode well in spite of the bumpy roads in Oklahoma.
All I can say about today is that it feels fine to be off the road. We intend to stay tomorrow night as well and leave here early on Sunday morning. When we have to drive through any large city I prefer to do it early on Sunday morning when traffic is light.
We’ll be heading to Elf City, Oklahoma on Sunday and Slade, of “Rolling Retreats” RV Sales will replace one of our slide topper awnings Rolling Retreats is my favorite place to do business when the RV needs attention. They do quality work at a fair price.
Monday will find us in Amarillo, Texas, where we hope to join our friends, Mike & Marian and Eddie & Jan, for a couple days of fun.
When we leave Amarillo, we will go in separate directions from Mike & Marian who are not traveling to Flagstaff, AZ with the other four of us.
Eventually, however, we’ll all meet up again at Mountaindale in Colorado.
Life is Good!
