Our motor home has been here since November 16 and we have spent more than two weeks here as well. When we are here I feel a bit like I do when we are on a cruise ship: surrounded by happy people, happy to be here, having fun. I continue to be surprised how much fun we have here considering the fact that we never do what people come here to do - gamble. Although much of the city where normal people live is ticky tacky and lower, lower middle class, on the Strip a holiday is always about to happen. We've been here long enough to see three sets of decorations and they were all wonderful.
The entertainment continues to amaze. It has gradually gotten pricier over the years, but at the discount ticket booth, we can always find something worth the price. Even the small shows have an extra wow! factor.
It almost make me feel guilty to admit it, but the temperatures here were consistently 10º above normal, while our countrymen nearly everywhere shivered in bitter cold. The sun is always out. It's been 110 days since it has rained here, which causes the locals great concern and means that the air is dustier than usual. So we vacuum more frequently, but never worry about which days to make outdoor plans. It's always great.
When we still housebound at home last month, I had thoughts of heading out of town to do some hiking or biking. Those goals remain unfulfilled, but in Arizona, there will be many opportunities for both.
We have lots to look forward to as we head further south, but I'm glad that we made this a lengthy stop.
