Monday, July 20 to Saturday, July 25
We arrived in Lincoln Park mid-afternoon and spent a couple of hours visiting with Drew’s aunt Janet. By then his cousins Bonnie & Dave who live only a couple of blocks away were home from work, and we moved to their driveway for our stay here. Janet had prepared dinner for us all and brought it to Bonnie & Dave’s. After dinner we taught Bonnie & Janet to play Farkle. Apparently we are very good instructors cuz Bonnie won the first game and Janet won the second.
It rained most of the night Monday and virtually all day Tuesday. Drew put the awning out and was able to repair the broken step, and Bonnie graciously allowed me to do 4 loads of laundry in her machines since we’d been unsuccessful in locating a laundromat on our way to NJ. Dave had gotten a pork roast for Bonnie to cook for dinner, Janet prepared some fresh veggies, a neighbor brought over 2 loaves of freshly baked bread, and I had a banana cake in the freezer that I had baked last week. Voila! Another delicious dinner was enjoyed by all.
Drew was up early Wed AM to work on the slide problem. He discovered that the transmission on the slide motor needed some new parts, but he grew more & more upset as he made calls only to find these parts were unavailable. By evening to sooth his nerves, we ordered out for New Jersey pizza and mussels in marinara sauce - two things he’d been longing for and had not been able to find elsewhere. I think he went to bed happy.
We had planned to leave Thurs morning, but Drew didn’t want to leave without some answer to his problem with the transmission on the slide motor. Plus, as luck would have it, when we came in to go to bed Wed nite, the lights in the livingroom slide would not come on. So, he had to spend another day under the RV fixing that problem. Poor guy! He did locate the new slide motor, however, and we’ll be able to pick it up when we get to Michigan.
Drew took Friday as a well-deserved ‘do-nothing’ day. On Sat AM everyone was moving slowly, so we weren’t ready to leave until after 11:00. At that point itwas decided that we should stay and have lunch with Bonnie, Dave & Janet before taking off. Then we headed for Catskill Adventure Resort in the mountains of New York.
(A Note from Dipt: “Wow! I have a new little cousin. He is a 4-month old shih tsu, and you can tell we are related cuz we’re the same size and color. BUT, he has LOTS more HAIR! We spent lots of time wrestling together under the RV. It was fun! I wish he could come with us so I’d have somebody to play with all the time. Mom took lots of pictures of him. Maybe she’ll put one low on the wall where I can remember him.”)
