|We arrived in Curitiba and decided to stay in slightly nicer accomodation so picked a hotel called the Estacio Palace hotel. We had a look around town as the hotel was quite central and saw some of the city. In the evening we were too lazy to go out and eat so stayed in our room watching tv !!!
The following day we decided to do a city tour. This took us to the top 25 spots in Curitiba. It meant getting on and off buses but we saw the main attractions. By the end Monica was exhausted ! and we had a nap before heading out for dinner. This was not an easy experience as eating times are different here to Argentina and we couldn´t really find any restaurants open or in our budget. Settled for one called Jangil where the waiters served us in dinner Jackets. We had a good humoured waiter and the plates of food were massive, should have ordered one dish only !
The next day we were supposed to take the Serra Verde express train to Morretes as the journey is supposed to be beautiful. However on walking to the train station Nick found that he could not walk more than 5 mins before having to duck into the toilet again !! Therefore Monica changed the tickets for the following day and the rest of the day was mostly spent in the room. Luckily enough we had found a good book swap the day before and had four new books to read !
So we tried again for the train and this time we managed to take the train. The journey was good, but unfortunately it was misty so we missed some of the beautiful landscape. When we arrived in Morretes we found that it was a quaint little town with not much to offer. So we took the bus back to Curitiba and relaxed. In the evening we met up with Paulo and Daria, some colleagues of a friend of Monica ! We went for a drink and then into a bar where a cover band of Rush were playing. Monica was sipping the Caiprinha´s and Nick was on the beer. The band were quite good but the Caiprinhas were better !! We left at about 2.30am as the band were finishing up.
Our final day in Curitiba was spent at the cinema (watching Alexander) and eating. In the evening we made our way to the bus station to catch the overnight bus to Rio.
