Going Home

We did a lot of driving around near Port Republic. We even drove north about 70 miles so exchange a camera lens I bought. Later that day a friend from the forum came over and we went out to dinner. He is Brian, and I posted his picture. Yesterday we went to Batsto which is a historic village from the late 1700's and early 1800. All the 1700 stuff burnt down. It is a big place and we walked quit a bit. I'll let the pictures explain most of it. The way it is now is they way it was after a rich guy bought the place. Initially they made iron, then it went to glass, and finally a rich guys ranch and town.

Today we went to Philadelphia to see all the historical stuff. Not wanting to drive in that town, we too the train. Good deal too, only $7 for both of us. We then got a cab which cost more, into downtown. We took a bus that takes you around, a double decker, and they explain every thing to you. You can get off the bus and catch the next one in 30 minutes is you like. We did not have enough time to do that. After that we walked to a place to get Philly Cheesestakes. Not bad, but I still like hamburgers better. After lunch we had enough time to visit the place where Ben Franklin's house used to be and see a good movie on his life, then the 2nd bank of Philadelphia which is now part of the National Park System and they had a good display of all the historical people. Then we got a guided tour of Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence was signed and the Constitution was ratified. Then cab back to the train and train to near the park and then drive home. Day went from 8 AM to 6 PM. Poor Tootsie.
