Visiting High School Classmates
Feb 4, 2016
|Thursday morning, still dark outdoors, and we were on our way to Port Aransas to visit with some long-time friends from my High School days.
We stopped in Falfurria, Texas, for a quick breakfast at McDonalds. They sure have some good coffee and we felt needy for our usual caffeine fix.
It took about 4 hours for the entire trip with the construction zones, our stop for food and coffee, and then trying to locate the correct house once we arrived.
Our friends, Don & Sharon, had a rental house with room for all of us.
Sherry drove from San Antonio with other friends, Larry & Doris Ann, who had flown into San Antonio, from Missouri.
With Marilyn & I, there were seven of us and we had a great time.
The ladies had prepared some great taco soup and, of course, fresh oysters with crackers and hot sauce. Delicious!!
Later, Don & I drove to a seafood place to get freshly shucked oysters, and then stopped to pick up a couple bottles of wine. The remainder of the afternoon was spent playing Mexican Train, visiting, and laughing together.
Don had planned dinner at a place where they served all the fried shrimp you could eat, but Larry & I both decided to stay behind as neither of us felt a bit of hunger. To Larry’s credit, he did suggest that maybe his wife could bring him a few shrimp. LOL
Don ended up escorting four ladies out to eat while Larry & I sat talking about our lives, families, etc. The time flew by and soon the others returned with shrimp for Larry and I but I still had no hunger so Larry had to do his best to consume the goodies.
It wasn’t long until we all had drooping eyelids so we were off to bed.
Life is Good!
