Trekking with Daisy 2009-10 travel blog

Today we took a short drive to Florence, where we will spend the next four nights. It was a very pleasant little trip. Florence is known as the “City of Rhododendrons”. It is located 60 miles west of Eugene where the Siuslaw River empties into the Pacific Ocean. (

After we had gotten settled, we ran a few errands. First, I needed to pick up a packet of mail which I had had forwarded to General Delivery at the Florence Post Office. Then we went to the Bridgewater Fish House on Bay Street in Old Town. I had already eaten lunch so I just had a glass of tea while Barb ate her lunch. The last stop was at Fred Meyer for groceries. I had not done any grocery shopping in a long time so my cupboard was getting bare.

I spent the rest of the afternoon and evening going through my stack of mail and getting caught up on business.
