|We slept in until 7:00 this morning but were up, sitting on the balcony with our morning coffee when our ship pulled into port in the Capitol City, called St John’s, in Antigua. (Pronounced An-Tee-Ga)
We joined Eddie & Jan for the breakfast buffet on Deck 16.
We departed the ship, walked the dock to a small shopping area, and found a driver to take us on a tour of the Island. His name was Alex and he lives in New York City during the summer. Alex was born here in Antigua and now spend the season here leading tours.
We explored the entire Island, stopping often to take pictures. I plan to post pictures once we get back to the land of super-fast wi-fi.
We visited Shirley Heights, Dow’s Hill, and Nelson’s Dockyard, then drove by many of the 365 beaches to view the beautiful turquoise waters of this area.
We drove the Fig Tree Drive back to town, admiring the lush vegetation along this drive.
When we reached town, Alex dropped us off at a local restaurant so we could sample some of the local cuisine, which we did.
Marilyn & I returned to the ship where we went back to the cabin for a few minutes but then rode the elevator up to the pizza bar for a couple slices of the “fresh from the oven” pizza.
We enjoyed the day but are now ready for a Brazilian Dinner followed by a Magic show in the theater.
Life is Good!
