The trip from Napa to Ukiah, CA was a short 96 miles through the Napa Valley countryside and up over the mountains before turning north on US 101 where we will remain at various points until the end of August. Sheila, our GPS, actually took us on the wrong route on CA 29/128 with the 128 portion being very slow and curvy through the mountains. This route was 10 miles shorter but about the same time as the 104 miles had we taken the correct, less mountainous way. While passing through the Napa Valley on CA 29, we passed many of the popular winemaker's vineyards such as Robert Mondavi, Sterling, Sutter Home, Inglenook, Martini and Beringer that we would have visited on the tour we had planned for yesterday so we got to see, but not taste, them anyway.
We are staying at the Redwood Empire Fairgrounds RV Park
where we stayed before in 2013
. If you check those pictures you will see that there were very few trees in the pull through area we were and are in now. I don't know how they got trees as large as they are now in three years. Very few of the sites were being used in 2013 but there are only two sites open right now. We have a very narrow, 50 amp, full hookup pull-through with great Verizon and a clean shot to the satellite. Right now the race track, about a 100 yards behind us, is in full swing and VERY NOISY! Hopefully that will die out in a couple of hours.
Tomorrow, our trip will take us up the coast to Fortuna where we will stay two nights.
