|Returned to Merl for cultural painting activity ran by rangers with two local artists, Trevor and Gershen. Made brushes by chewing on reeds. Learnt of the 'cross-hatching' technique with the fine lines decorating the painting which is a feature of the area and evident on the rock art. Kids lucky to have this special time only sharing with about 10 other people. These activities over the previous 3 months have been filled with up to 80 people. The ranger informed us that only 3 weeks ago camp ground were all at capacity throughout Kakadu, now grounds only 10%. Movie on at poolside after dark. 'Ten canoes', an old black and white movie about aboriginal life and customs.
