Shipwreck Bay - one of the best surf spots in NZ

My potted garden!

In honor of daylight savings weekend and my birthday in two days (29 if you can believe it), we headed up to one of our favorite places – Endless Summer Lodge in Ahipara. Of course, Mike checked the surf forecast before we left and it promised to be pumping from Saturday afternoon thru Sunday. It was. He forgot to check the weather forecast, which gave us rain and high winds until about 1pm Saturday afternoon. Thankfully the sun came out on Saturday afternoon and stayed that way, so most was forgiven!

It’s amazing that we can leave work on a Friday and by dinner time, be cooking dinner at an awesome lodge on one of the best beaches in New Zealand. We are so lucky!

On the way home Sunday Mike ate fish and chips until he was sick. Who can turn down piping hot deep fried fresh bluenose! Plus he bought smoked hapuku (grouper) roe and wings. Tasty!

When we got home, I planted a bunch of vegetables in pots that now line the side deck. Wish me luck with my green thumb!

It’s light until 7 now with daylight savings and the weather is getting warmer. I love spring!

Sorry for the short entry but the details are in the pictures. Oh and I thought you might be tired of seal stories (although I'm not sick of seeing seals!).
