Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

Jan 19th. We sail away

We slept pretty well because we were so tired and worn out from the long travel day. Marilyn & I finished our showers and put on clean clothing to start our day.

Breakfast was nourishing and it wasn’t long before we were loading into the transportation from the Hotel to the port.

The only description I would use for the port activity was “Controlled Chaos”. The Priority Boarding line moved pretty fast though, and we were soon through security and aboard the ship.

After a brief visit to our cabin, we explored a bit and found the Buffet where we found nearly anything we wanted for lunch.

We took our time enjoying a delicious lunch and then spent some time exploring the ship. We enjoyed the music being played in the awesome atrium of the ship, and found a lounge where we could get a cold drink and listen to the music at the same time.

The mandatory safety drill was announced over the loudspeaker system and we headed for our cabins to retrieve the life vests. We were directed to our mustering area by the crew members and listened attentively to the directions for the emergency drill, even trying on the life jackets.

Our ship departed right on time at 4:00 PM and we were soon at sea, rocking gently with the swells.

Marilyn & I took some time to get unpacked and were soon all organized.

The dinner was terrific although we each selected a main entrée different from what the others selected.

Marilyn opted for a pork tenderloin with Caribbean jerk marinade, Jan had a white fish, Eddie chose a Cajun meal with “Mud Bugs”, and I remained true to my habits and chose the prime rib, which was tender and quite delicious.

Things like Shrimp Cocktail, Caesar Salad, and Pina Colada Soup were followed by the main courses, and a variety of desserts were also offered.

After dinner we went to the theater and were entertained by a really good comedian from New York.

Then it was off to bed because midnight had passed.

Life is Good!
