|We chose to have breakfast at the Hotel before leaving. The scrambled eggs, bacon, sliced fruit, coffee, and juice were quite tasty, and we were on our way at 6:45 AM.
We drove in light rain nearly all the way to St Joseph, MO, where we stopped for lunch at the Cracker Barrel.
Marilyn was ready to drive by that time so she drove the remainder of the way home.
It was right at 3:00 in the afternoon when we arrived back home.
We could see that the campground was filling up for the “Hootenanny” weekend, but we were exhausted and chose to sit outdoors with a cold drink and relax.
I even decided to wait until this morning to write a blog for yesterday.
Several friends from Quincy, Illinois dropped by to visit. Chad and Jeff are good friends and we enjoyed visiting with them for some time.
Jeff’s nephew, Conner, was with them, as they waited for his parents to arrive. Conner is seven years old, the same age as our Grandson, Colby, and we wished Colby could be here to help entertain this young man.
We didn’t know that one of our favorite TV programs began its new season last night, and we missed the first half of “The Amazing Race”.
It was after 10:00 when we finally went to bed. Both of us slept well, but I got up at 5:00, hoping to have some Wi-Fi service.
Alas, that was a “no go” as is often the case on weekends here at the campground. It looks like I’ll have to take the computer somewhere else to post this blog entry. Bummer!
We drove to Palmyra to watch Colby play football. Palmyra was playing the team from Clopton. Palmyra led at half time by a score of 34 to 0, and won 48 to 0.
So far this season, the defense where Colby is a linebacker, has not allowed a point. We are proud of him as the announcers call his name quite a lot.
Colby was attending a Birthday party Sleepover so Steve, Jennifer, and Lauren drove in to spend some time with us.
Marilyn fixed her delicious baked beans while I put country style ribs on the grill.
Life is Good!
