Good-bye to Fayence and hello to the next part of this trip, heading to Toulouse, France. A group decision was made to head west for a bit and then south to the coast for a nice leisurely drive along the French Riviera. Great decision! The road took us through St. Tropez and along the waterfront, winding inland up and over the passes between towns. Lunch was a picnic out on the breakwater in Cavalaire with the sun shining down on us, a guy fishing off the end of the rocks and a slight breeze making the day perfect and fresh. Without a care in the world we enjoyed the views from the tops of the lookouts and at each little town we passed through.

At one point someone mentioned the time and we realized over 3 hours had past and we hadn’t gone any more than about 50km towards our final destination of Toulouse. The freeway turned out to be substantially farther from the coast than we thought so by the time we got there it was well after 2pm and we still had at least 5 hours of driving to go! And that doesn’t count all the %*^#@& toll booths you have to go through which, of course, slows down your progress (as well as the odd wrong turn which, of course, slows down your progress even MORE!).

By the time we reached Toulouse it was 7:30pm, just about dark (we only made one wrong turn and only stopped once for directions) before we pulled up in front of our hotel/apartment/rooming house. It had been a long day and a long drive for Wayne and we were VERY happy that Toulouse wasn’t any further down the road!!!
