Nha Trang
Vietnam's Daytona Beach
Dave
Our next stop after Hoi An was a beach town called Nha Trang, which is incredibly popular with both Vietnamese and foreign tourists. The beach here is much more developed for tourism than anywhere else we have been in Vietnam, and looking out at it you could easily think you were in a Florida beach town, complete with tacky shops and cheaply built but overpriced beach hotels. That being said the influx of tourism here also means there are great bars and restaurants and lots to do.
We spent one of our first days at a local hot springs and mud bath. It was a fantastic and very popular stop with mud baths, high pressure mineral showers, mineral spring pools and massage therapists. The whole day here with transportation and 1 hour massage cost us about $9 each.
The next day we went out on a snorkelling trip into the crystal blue waters. The snorkelling was fantastic with about 15 meters of visibility providing a great view of the coral and fish. The diving was some of the best I have seen anywhere in the world, and I think in the next few days I will go back out on one of the dive boats for an actual diving trip.
