Deadwood is on the National Register of Historic Places and has quite a few historic buildings as well as modern casinos. Wild Bill Hickok was killed here by Jack McCall while playing poker in Saloon No. 10. Every day starting Memorial Day weekend there is a shootout in the streets and the reenactment of the shooting of Wild Bill, the capture of Jack McCall, and the trial of Jack McCall.

We took the trolley to Deadwood's Main Street in the morning to check out the town and had breakfast at a cantina in one of the casinos. We went back to the campground to get the truck and drove through Spearfish Canyon to Spearfish to get some groceries. I left my camera at the camper so I wasn't able to get pictures of the jagged rock cliffs or of Bridal Veil Falls. It was a beautiful drive and we enjoyed it.

We took the trolley back to town later in the afternoon and enjoyed wandering through the shops and watching the shootout in the street and the reenactment of the the shooting of Wild Bill.

If you are a fan of the HBO show "Deadwood" you will recognize some of the names of the characters in the pictures.
