We met up with our friends, Floyd and Nina, whom we met in South Carolina, here at Renfro Valley RV Park and Entertainment Center. Renfro Valley is home to the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame and the Entertainment Center includes 2 theaters (one an old barn built in the 1800's), a shopping village, Historic Lodge and resturant, full-service RV park, motel and cabins, and a log cabin village. The log cabins were brought to this location to preserve the heritage of the settlers from the 1800's. As we walked through each one, we were told the history of each, who built them and lived in them. Most were one room and families with 9 to 12 children had lived in them. Most were made of logs from yellow poplar and chestnut trees.

One day we drove 20 miles to the town of Berea, Ky, in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains on the edge of the Daniel Boone forest. This charming small town is home to a thriving community of artisans and Berea College. The college was founded in 1855 as the first interracial and coeducational college in the South. It offers a student craft program that preserves traditional Appalachian arts.

We took a trip on Sunday afternoon with Floyd and Nina and the dogs (Cujo and Tuffy) to the Natural Bridge State Park. We thought the dogs could hike to the Bridge with us and enjoy the outdoors, but there were signs all over that read "NO DOGS ON TRAILS". They were VERY disappointed, so Floyd and Danny stayed in the shade with the dogs while Nina and Marcie took the chair lift to the top of the mountain to view the natural bridge and arch. The guys were glad they stayed below when the gals returned all hot and exhausted from the hike to view the bridge from above and underneath (and back up)! I WILL INCLUDE PICTURES WHEN WE GET A STRONGER SIGNAL!

We are still having a great time and enjoying our trip!

Of course, Danny and Floyd had to find a golf course! Floyd and Nina had met a real nice couple while they were in the Florida Keys; John and Kim. They live in this area of Kentucky and, you might know, John plays golf!! So-o-o! Yes!--- John, Floyd, and Danny played golf one day! John also invited us to Kim's 40th birthday party the next night. They built a beautiful home on several acres of rolling green hills and forests.
