Rachel and Aiden

Brett and Aiden

At approximately 7AM (EST) this morning our great grandson Aiden was born – 6lbs. 8oz. I’m sure Rachel and Brett are exhausted after nearly 24 hours of induced labor. Their new life begins! We are in Alabama, but return to Atlanta tomorrow. Most likely we will meet Aiden on Saturday or Sunday. Our planned departure for the U.K. is Monday evening.

We left Phoenix on the “red-eye” Monday night, a day earlier than originally planned. Storms were predicted in Atlanta on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, so we figured it prudent to arrive in advance of bad weather. The prediction was confirmed yesterday morning with heavy rain and a tornado watch – in December? I knew it was coming after watching the lightning show as we passed over Texas during our flight east.

We arrived in Atlanta about 6AM Tuesday, picked up the rental car and drove to Rick’s for several hours of quality sleep. After a quiet day we caught up with Rick and Debbie during dinner at a nearby restaurant. Then yesterday morning we drove to Cleveland, AL to visit our adopted family – Pam, Mike, Austin and Peyton – and pick up the latest batch of mail. Tonight we’ll brave the possibility of snow and go see Peyton’s basketball game.

I guess this wet cold weather is preparing us for winter in England. It is also making the case for wintering in Arizona.

During our first year of RVing Lynda has noted the absence of any spectacular sunsets, while other friends have posted several on their blogs. It was observed by one friend that we needed to forsake the full-hookup sites and camp in more wilderness settings that I am not prone to do. On Monday night after storing our truck and home, we waited for the airport shuttle at the Meridian Activities Building. Finally - one of the most magnificent sunsets bloomed and slowly faded over the Phoenix area as if to say goodbye and hurry back. So much for the wilderness theory!

The camera is in ATL so you’ll have to wait until Sat. to see this sunset and Aiden.
