Down the Hill Into Homer with the Spit in View

Susan and the Fireweed

A Few Fireweed Plants

A Great View

Close Up of the Glacier

Today, we packed up everything for the first time in over 30 days at the River Terrace RV Park in Soldotna. It was nice that everything went back into place along with all the new stuff from around Soldotna.

After a short 75 mile drive to Homer, we checked into OceanView RV Park and went exploring. So it was down to the Spit and then to the Visitors Center for current info. We found a local pub was having a musical spoof of Homer put on by locals that was supposed to be good--so we got a reservation.

From there, we headed out East End Road for about 22 miles or to the end of the road. The views were beyond description so I will let the photos tell the story. Along the way, the fireweed in the area is the largest that we have seen--In Alaska the saying goes that when the fireweed reaches the top of the stem-summer is over and winter is coming. Looks like a few weeks of summer are left. The temps were in the 60's and the weather today was great. Looks like rain for tomorrow.

After the drive, we walked up the street to the pub and the show was really great. Alot of old music from our era was used with the lyrics changed to fit the spoof on Homer, fishing and RVers.
