|We left the Deer Creek Valley RV park at 10 minutes before 8:00 this morning.
One hour later we crossed the state line into Missouri, and five hours after leaving Topeka we arrived at the Mark Twain Cave.
I went inside and began getting hugs from the good folks who were working today. Connie, who runs the Camp Store and schedules for the Campground was the first to come out from her desk to exchange hugs with me. Then Patty, one of the long time guides here, greeted me with a hug. Linda, the owner, followed and gave me a big hug.
We chatted for a few minutes, then I heard a loud voice say “Ed!” and one of the pretty young ladies, came running down the hall with open arms. It was so nice to see Josie again. She is one of those special kids who shares her talents as a cave guide. Her Dad, Pete, teaches Spanish at the High School here and sometimes works as a guide in the summer.
I hated to leave this group of good friends but headed back to our site to get set up. Marilyn had stopped at the local Walmart to pick up a few supplies.
I was mostly set up when Marilyn arrived, and she quickly put things in order inside the RV.
The kids arrived around 4:00 PM and the excitement seemed contagious as we all laughed and hugged each other.
We enjoyed a fine meal of pizza and breadsticks, after visiting for awhile. The Grandkids demonstrated their skills at a new dance called the Nae Nae. Then Steve showed that he hasn’t lost all of his skills as he did a respectable cartwheel, followed by a handstand. Jennifer still has some skills left from her cheerleading days and the little ones had fun trying to imitate their Mom, and their Dad.
We were all laughing and having a good time.
We even had time to take the Grandkids to the playground for a short time before they had to leave for the Homecoming Football Game tonight.
The Grandkids are excited about staying overnight with us tomorrow night. Fun, Fun, Fun!
It was a good trip and we are glad to be back in Hannibal.
Now if we only had a decent internet. LOL
Life is Good!
