|We were up at a regular time this morning. Knowing that we would not be able to travel all the way home today, we were in no hurry to get started.
Chris walked up to exchange hugs and wish us safe travels. Then Jan brought sandwiches so we could have a bite to eat for breakfast.
Eddie joined Jan and us, and a few minutes later, Bryan & Sherry walked up. While we were visiting, Gia walked over also, followed shortly by Jesse & Ginger.
Ken & Jean had already said so long because they were leaving on a road trip to Estes park yesterday.
So, as you can see, we were able to exchange hugs with our friends before we left this morning.
We pulled out of Mountaindale Resort at 8:20 AM, took a 20 minute rest break in Limon, and arrived at the High Plains Campground in Oakley, KS, just five hours after leaving Mountaindale.
We lost an hour as we crossed into the Central time zone and decided to eat a late lunch or early dinner at the restaurant next door.
A salad bar, followed by fried chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, and corn, made for a tasty meal.
Once we were all set up, we relaxed while trying to get logged on to the free wi-fi. Marilyn even put her PJ’s on and sat working on her cross-stitch project.
We decided to not even connect the cable TV, choosing to simply enjoy the quiet time after five hours on the road.
We are road wimps and not road warriors, choosing to travel four to six hours maximum in a day. We like to be off the road around 2:00 if at all possible.
Tomorrow we plan to be in Topeka.
It won’t be long before we’ll be hugging those grandkids.
