On To New Mexico
Jun 16, 2015
|With only four hours to travel today, we slept in, took our time this morning, sipping coffee, and left Oasis RV Park at 8:40 this morning. We gained an hour when we transitioned into the Mountain Time Zone, and were all set up, relaxing, and walking around taking pictures by 12:30 local.
The journey today was scenic and the Raton Pass Café and RV Park (Formerly known as the Cedar Rail RV park) is small, with only a few gravel Sites, but the Sites are level with full hookups, and the scenery from the top of the Pass is pretty awesome.
We hope to share some pictures with you in this blog.
Suppose for a moment that you just happened to stumble on to this journal and read my blog for the first time today. Then you might be puzzled by this next paragraph.
We traveled from Missouri to Colorado, taking five days to make the trip, and sleeping in a different State each night.
Today, which is day 4 of this journey, we passed through Des Moines on the way to our stop for the night.
What was our route of travel? Can you guess?
You might suppose that the name “The Happy Wanderers” refers to the way we travel, never going directly from point A to point B.
Or you might think we are simply lost!
We prepared a late lunch of frozen dinners from the freezer.
We thought about going outdoors with a cold drink but the darkening clouds and the sound of thunder influenced our thoughts and we remained indoors.
The rain began a bit after 3:00 PM, followed by hail and heavy rain, wind, and our wish that we were in a more protected area.
Tomorrow we have a short 2 ½ to 3 hour drive to Mountaindale.
Then we’ll be home for the summer.
Life is Good!
