|Sun, 05 Jun: Back on the road again...
After almost two weeks at the Thousand Trails Williamsburg we're finally giving those tires some exercise. Once the Kirschs left it wasn't much fun so we'll head north to where they, and the rest of the family, can be found.
The weather was threatening with predictions of severe storms. We opted to get going early and hope we could outrun the worst of the storms. We did!
After moving the coach from our site we hooked up the car, checked lites and brakes, and got underway at 0730. It took some doing to wend thru the many trees while leaving our antennae intact. Bob did it with elan.
Once on the road we got on I 64 westbound to the outskirts of Richmond where we picked up the loop I 295 north and west. We stayed on the loop and rejoined I 64 west of town and continued west to I 81. Sandi took the helm about half way and picked up I 81 north to Winchester. We arrived at the Camping World at noon sharp and backed into a complementary 50Amp site for the nite.
Today's run was a long-ish 234 miles with an overall fuel economy slightly better than 8½ mpg. While the skies threatened almost the entire drive we never had anything more than scattered rain, never enough to require using the wipers.
Update! It is 1530 as this is being written and the weather has finally arrived. Right now it is raining with some wind, but the forecast holds the possibility of lightening and hail. Hope not...
