Mon, 16 Aug: We drove the short (110 mile) distance from LaVergne (south of Nashville) to Elkmont (northwest of Huntsville) this morning. It was a very pleasant drive on I-24, TN840, and I-65. It is just as hot 110 miles south of Nashville (as if we expected something different?) Thunderstorms forecast most every afternoon. Carpe's A/C is working overtime...

We are staying at Mill Creek Campground about four miles outside of Elkmont. The park is small, only 26 sites, and very remote. Remarkably, we do have internet and cellular service, albeit both are marginal. Fortunately, the park has wireless which is pretty crisp, but not very secure.

We'll meet up with Ray & Cathie Bailey later today, they're a few hours out as this is written. Then it'll be frolic time until we must part Saturday morning. Our Alabama quest??? BBQ!

Wed, 18 Aug: Ray & Cathie arrived just before dark (and in the wake of some thunderstorms) on Monday. They drove 500+ miles, a marathon day in an RV. As always, it is wonderful to be with them and share stories and lots of laughs.

Yesterday we hung around the RV park getting caught up with life. We did laundry and for dinner we grilled steaks on the BBQ. True to form, Bob and Ray put on quite a show under the guise of grilling steaks (see pix).

Today we drove into Huntsville and visited the US Space Museum. It was AWESOME!!! They had some Atlas V rockets set up to demonstrate the lunar shots. They also had an SR71 and the Space Shuttle mockup Pathfinder set up on an external tank and two boosters... AWESOME!!!!!! What a great place to visit.

Thu, 19 Aug: Today we drove back to Tennessee to tour the Dinkle distillery. We "discovered" this other Tennessee distillery and wanted to visit. It was in a beautiful setting and the tour was very enjoyable.

Fri, 20 Aug: Our last day with Ray & Cathie. We drove to Sam's Club and Walmart in Huntsville. Tomorrow we'll "split", each of us heading in a different direction. Ray & Cathie will head to Red Bay, AL to have some work done at the Tiffin Factory Service facility. We're heading east to Gaffney, SC for service at the Freightliner Factory Service facility. So sad as we really enjoy spending time with the Baileys.
