Arrived at Gunter Hill campground Friday the 9th without incident. It was a leisurely four hour drive up the center of Alabama. We came up US 231 which is a very good highway. We have spent the week-end just relaxing around the campsite, biking and walking around the area. One nice thing, it looks like we are the only one leaving on Tuesday so there will be no line at the dump station!

Gunter Hill is a very nice Corp of Engineer (COE) campground with large campsites and some are on the lake. We have site #28 which is probably the best lakeside site in the campground - I got lucky picking it out when making reservations. A couple of pictures of the site are available above. The campgound is very wooded and has lots of shade. Of course that makes setting up the satellite dish more difficult but we managed to get a signal. It stormed Saturday night and was really windy Sunday and that interfered with satellite reception as the tree branches kept moving and interfering with the small whole I was able to site through.

We went to the Montgomery Zoo today, Monday, and had a good time. You know how Doris loves zoos! There were no crowds and we had a leisurely time of it. The zoo is small but much like the Central Florida Zoo in Sanford Florida, they have done a good job of displaying the animals in their natural habitat and have a few animals that you don't see every day in other, larger zoos. I have included just a few pictures of the visit.

We will be leaving tomorrow morning for Whitten Park COE just a little East of Tupelo, MS outside the small town of Fulton on the Tennessee-Tombigbee waterway. We will update the blog with that visit about Thursday.
