Alaska 2007 travel blog

We awoke to a rainy day in Anchorage and hit the road for the short (150 mile) drive to Soldotna in the Kenia Penisula. Well it rained all the way to Soldotna. Fortunately, rain was not hard but the low clouds covered the mountains along the way. The Turnagain Arm of the Cook Inlet had the tide running out but it looked cold and gray. At the Russian River inlet to the Kenia we saw lots of fisherman lining the river and a moose standing by the road as if she was waiting for the traffic to stop.

So we will be here for the month of July to fish and sightsee. Lots of the RVer's in the park return every year to Soldatna to fish in July. Everyone says July is the hot month to fish but as of now there are only a few fish in the river. Also I found a nice 9 hole golf course about 4 miles up the road--what more could a fisherman and golfer need!
