|I apologize for not writing the past few days, but to be honest with you, I just haven't felt like it.
I know, I know, that sounds like a poor excuse. But the truth is, this is supposed to be a trip journal. When we are not traveling, it sometimes feels like I might be boring you all to death, and I certainly don't want to do that.
On the other hand, our out-of-town family members let me know that they enjoy sharing in our family times together. It helps them keep up to date with what we're all doing. And what we all look like these days, LOL! I don't think we change all that much, except for maybe aging a bit. Unfortunately, we all have to weather that particular issue!
So, the triple birthday party was a barrel of fun. The guys played a bit of football outside, watched a lot of football inside, and waited for the dinner bell to ring. Bonnie's homemade chicken and noodles are always a hit. Afterward, we separated into teams, guys against the girls, and played a game called Catch Phrase. There is a handheld electronic machine involved that gives a word or phrase. The player in the hot seat gives 'clues' to his teammates trying to get them to say that word or phrase as quickly as possible so that they can hand off the machine before the buzzer sounds. If you get caught with it, the other team gets a point. The team with the most points at the agreed upon end time wins. This particular session, the girls prevailed! All right ladies!!!
Since it was Cindy's 40th, Bonnie and Larry decorated both her and the room with banners and streamers. Her banner, fittingly, said '40 and Fantastic!' All three had a flashing button with red LED lights. My honeys proclaimed, 'Aged to Perfection!' Well done, sis...and right on!
There were two different kinds of cake served with the traditional ice cream. And then gifts were opened. My honey was pleased to receive new clothes, a couple of really neat books, an assorted tea collection, movie tickets etc. We are so hard to buy for these days. We are blessed to have everything that we really want or need. The truth is, spending time with family feels like the most important part of these special days.
The last gift Larry received was a new trolling motor. This past summer our current motor lost both the 1st and 3rd speeds. Which caused us to troll faster than we like when fishing. He's a pretty handy guy and tried to repair it but wasn't able to isolate the problem. If anyone has any ideas, please let us know ok? We're going to give it to our nephew who is pleased to own it, even broken. It's better than nothing if you don't have one, right, LOL!
This past week Larry was contacted by several of our friends and clients, so he's been busy working with them. This happens every year after Christmas, I think as a result of our Christmas cards. We really appreciate the business, both old and new, as it is certainly supplements what makes this life-style possible for us. Health insurance is a hot topic these days, especially for the small business owner and self-employed. As are the other financial services he provides.
So that's it for now. I hope you have all had a great start to your New Year. We look forward to seeing many of you as the year progresses and we move about. We'll be here a couple of more weeks and then we'll be heading south. The weather is so nice right now, in the high 60's, it will be hard to beat it. So, we're really in no hurry.....
