It has been just over 7 weeks since Ivan had his triple bypass surgery done
in Seattle. He has had checkup appointments with his three doctors: local,
cardiologist and surgeon. All have given him excellent reports with one exception.
His statin dosage was raised from 20 to 30 mg. per day because his cholesterol
numbers are not quite satisfactory yet. He looks and feels great and he continues
to walk at least 60 min. a day at least 6 days per week! The end of April will
end his restrictions on activities and lifting (within reason, of course).
Travel plans are starting to take shape though very conservative in scope and
frequency for us. We start with a much looked-forward-to visit with my mother in
Grants Pass, OR. Dr. said we could do the 1 1/2 day drive the last two weeks in
April. So that will be a fun and relaxing start to our excursions.
The first weekend in May we plan to go to La Conner, WA, to take in some of the Tulip Festival so famous in the Skagit Valley area for so many years. Our dear friend Emilie
will be our hostess.
The third week in June we shall venture back to central WA for an all-school reunion at the Wilson Creek School District, the first one we'll have been to since we left in 1986! Sure looking forward to seeing lots of staff and former students after all these years! We hope be able to combine that event with a visit with friends in Soap Lake, our home for 16 years.
Early August will find us in Eugene, OR, for a week of the wonderful annual OR Festival of American Music (OFAM) as a Road Scholar program. This year's theme will be: Hooray Hollywood. We hope to combine that week with another visit to see my mother either before or after the festival.
Oct. 4-12 we'll be traveling with one of our favorite tour companies, Alki Tours out of West Seattle. We're going to let them take us to the Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Festival plus Taos and Santa Fe, New Mexico. (Really don't feel like tackling the crowds and parking at the balloon festival!)
We've been in contact with our great RV European wagon masters, Dieter and Gaby. So wish
we were able to travel through France and Spain with them this year but...too soon for such a big adventure.
Whatever your summer/year's travel plans are, we sincerely hope you have a splendid time
and cherish all the memories you'll be making. We'd love to hear from you folks and live
some of your adventures through your e-mails. This site will end this coming April so if you wish to remain in touch with us please feel free to write to us at: cnir24byways@ juno.com. We'd love to hear from you!
All the best in health and happiness! And do "Keep on traveling"!
